Embossing with a Stencil and Foil Accents

Hello! Kari here today using some new Maker Forte products. When I saw this new stencil designed by Jess Fransisco, I knew it had to be my first project!! I am sharing how to Emboss with a stencil and add some foiled sentiment accents with the *new Toner Paper.

Here’s a look at my card:

I have a quick video so you can see the new products and some tips on using this stencil (with NO masking!!) I love a good stencil that you can use without masking. Watch the video below or in HD on YouTube:

This card actually came together very quickly and I think it would be fun to create a lot of these backgrounds in different colors. Today I’m keeping it traditional with the reds and greens, but imagine pinks and turquoise!! (I love it already!)

I started off taping the stencil to my panel with purple tape; then I ran it through my die cutting machine with the embossing pad. This created another element of dimension. I inked through the stencil with some Distress Inks in the following colors: Festive Berries, Evergreen Bough, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, and Pine Needles.

I then die cut the Toner Sheets using a “merry” die from my stash. I cut some foil to cover the die cut word and ran it through my Minc machine on level #3. You can also use a lamintor for foiling.

To finish off the card, I die cut a frame out of glitter paper using two rectangle dies. Then I attached it all to a heavy weight card base.

I’m often asked what supplies I use to make my cards and projects, so I’ve put together a list using affiliate links when possible. If you make a purchase with these links I may receive a small commission. These help me to keep up with blog costs and continue bringing you fun projects. Thank you so much for your support!

Pumpkin Spice Gnomes

Hello! I’m so happy to share these two Pumpkin Spice cards with you using supplies from Miss Ink Stamps. I love their new release, which includes all these adorable gnome images! Today I’m sharing how much color affects your cards…I’ve created two cards, with two colorways.

Card 1

I’m using cool colors in this first card…adding some snow details with a white pen and white Nuvo drops. I love the cool color look with a soft background!

Card 2

On the second card, I changed the background and added some rainbow detail to the pumpkin house. But all the other colors remain the same! Wow…see how much a few color changes can completely change the feeling of the card?

I’m sharing all the details in the video below, or watch in in HD on YouTube:

I hope you enjoy this one!

4 Ways to add Shine to your cards

Hello! I have a quick card share today using products from the Hedgehog Hollow October Kit. When you create a simple card, there are some easy ways to add an extra “WOW” and I’m sharing 4 ways today!

4 Ways to add WOW

  1. Specialty Paper – for this card I chose some navy PEARLIZED paper, it has a pearly shine and really gives a magical feeling to the card. If you are a Hedgehog Hollow subscriber, you might recognize this paper from last month’s kit.
  2. Glitter Embossing Powder – when you stamp with clear ink, you can add any embossing powder. For this card, I used an iridescent glittery embossing powder that furthers the WOW factor.
  3. Vellum Elements – Vellum is a subtle yet powerful way to add some elements for a great look. Here I die cut some snowflakes out of vellum. Make sure to adhere the vellum so your adhesive can be hidden! (Watch my video for more on this).
  4. Gemstones – gemstones are another way to add shine to your card. Here I used iridescent gems to the center of the vellum snowflakes. Not only does this add more shine, but it also hides the adhesive on the vellum!

For all the details, watch the short video below or in HD on YouTube:
