Cityscape Cards Two Ways

Hello! Today I am excited to share with you some Cityscape Christmas cards…One is a diorama 3D card and one is an A2 size folding card. Here’s the Diorama card:

This is a 3D card that will fold flat to fit into an A6 envelope for mailing!

How festive do those skyscrapers look all lit up in green and red?! I love that. I used glitter paper to place behind the die to get that sparkly holiday lights look.

This new Diorama Die is a new favorite of mine. It is so easy to use and to layer with Christmas paper. I added some Alphabet Flags (from a previous release) to spell “Noel” and used that same sparkle paper behind those letters. To finish off this card, I added some glitter to the Pine Branches and topped it with a big, red bow (from this set)!

I love that you can also use these same dies to make an A2 size card:

Here I used the same City Skyline dies over an ink blended background. That beautiful sentiment is from the Christmas Card Verses stamp set. I created a frame with the Pierced Rectangles dies, and finished it all off with sparkly Pine Branches and a Pinecone from this set.

If you haven’t already seen the entire October release, head over to Our Daily Bread Designs to take a look. It’s a fantastic release and I love how versatile the dies are to use for a Diorama Card OR for a folded card.

Thanks for stopping by!

How I Copic Color Ghosts…and the October Box Reveal!

Hello! When you think of coloring ghosts, do they rank right up there with panda bears, penguins and polar bears?! Right…they are white (or clear) so they should be so easy to color!

Today I am going to share with you my very favorite…and easy….color combinations for coloring ghosts!

All the products I use today are from the October 2018 Hedgehog Hollow box, and those ghost images are an exclusive set created by the Ink Road Stamps! The ribbon, Nuvo drops, and little spider brad also come in the box!

Can you see a difference in the way they are colored? I used a different combination for each so they would each have their own look. Subtle, yes…but in real life so effective!

For that first little ghost I used these Copic colors in this order: B0000, BV00, B000. These add a slight purple/blue undertone. Then I went over all of those colors with E40.

For the ghost in the middle, I used Cool Grays in C00, C1, C3. I first went over the ghost with the C00 where I thought the shadows would be. Then I used the darkest C3 over that, blended out with the C1 and back to the C00 to smooth it all out.

The last ghost is colored up with Warm Grays: W00, W1, W3. I used the same method as above for this cutie with a mustache!

For the envelope, I simply stamped one of the ghosts and the “boo” (using Staz On ink…this envelope is a little slick so I didn’t want that ink to smear!)

I colored it using prismacolored pencils and burnished it a little with a blending stump to smooth it out.

A Look Back at Our Daily Bread Designs September Release

Hello! Today I’m excited to share more guitar projects with you. I have found that I love to design and create GUITARS with this new die from Our Daily Bread Designs! However, I couldn’t find any fire paper that was small enough to look right on these guitars. Did I let that stop me? NO! I just created my own!

I really wanted to have a nice little giveaway treat with these guitars, so I paired them with the Gable Box Die to make these for my musical nephews:

For this one I created a tag and stamped “You Rock” from this set on the inside.

Aren’t they fun? My idea was to have a dark grey to light grey Ombre guitar on this one, but you could really use any color you like! I added some glitter pen accents on the fire and around the edge of the guitar and that makes it really pop!

I also created a VIDEO to show you how easy it is to design your own fire design on a guitar with markers, watch it below or on YouTube:

These guitars also make such cute cards. I’ve shared a few on previous blog posts, but had to share one today with fire! This one is a red guitar and the fire is just on the bottom of the guitar, then I added a shiny black guitar pick guard:

I added more dimension to this guitar by cutting out the strut center (from a different die cut guitar) and popping it up with foam tape. Then I created layers on the card using foam tape as well. That paper is some of my favorite from the new Notable Notes Paper Pad.

My last project features a stamp set that I also completely adore: called Marvelous Things. The instruments are made up of music notes!

I stamped these in three different colors of Distress Oxide Inks, and used metallic embossing powder for the sentiment and for the bottom edge of the card.

I hope you enjoyed these projects today! Thanks so much for stopping by. If you give this a try, please let me know…I’d love to see your designs!

A Review of Catherine Pooler Inks

Hello! Did you know that you can do so many things with Catherine Pooler Inks? You can stamp, of course, but you can also do some ink blending and watercoloring with them!

Today I have a fun fall project with the new Catherine Pooler ink, Coral Cabana, that came in the September Hedgehog Hollow subscription box.

First, I took that ink and a few other ink colors and blended them on Bristol Smooth paper using a round ink blending tool.

These inks blend beautifully on this Bristol Smooth paper!

Once I had that background blended, I stamped and gold embossed the florals from the HH Subscription box and used these inks to WATERCOLOR on them!

2-blending-and-watercolor-flowers

I also used the same Bristol Smooth paper for this. I also used some Zig Clean color markers to color up the green leaves. I wanted this to feel like a FALL card, so I picked my interpretation of fall colors for this card.

Then I cut a banner shape from my stash, ink blended on that banner, and STAMPED the sentiment using the Coral Cabana ink.

And Voila! A beautiful card using three methods with the very same inks! If you haven’t tried these inks, I would definitely recommend them!

I popped up the banner and one of the florals with Scotch 3M foam tape, and used my Nuvo liquid adhesive to attach the rest. To finish it off, I added Jewel Nuvo drops (these are translucent with a hint of color…which I love)!

I hope I inspired you give all three methods a try with your inks: stamping, watercoloring, and ink blending. Enjoy!
