It’s All About the Details

Hello! Today I am excited to share a video about adding fun details to a card. I first colored up my image on bristol paper using Zigs, then I added a bunch of extra details. This detail work is fun and EASY, and it adds quite a bit of interest to an otherwise fairly simple card.

I love this butterfly image…and those sentiments are ALL really good, too. Perfect for a time like this!

I used four kinds of detail-adding elements: a white gel pen, a Copic multi-liner, Nuvo Jewel drops (translucent), and Zig marker. These are all great ways to add DOTS to your cards. Be sure to watch the video for the details.

Adding this kind of detail is something to try at home and see what you like! I can’t wait to see what you create.

Want to know a secret? That background was not going to be a stormy background. It was going to be a bright, watercolored background. But it morphed into this stormy background, with that angel butterfly staying calm amidst it all! We can all learn from this bright butterfly.

Peacock cards using Paper Strips

Hello again! Today I have some peacock cards to share, using the stamps from The Hedgehog Hollow September Kit.

I gathered together some cardstock in various colors (inspired by a peacock) and cut them into strips for these easy-to-make cards.

I sometimes love a card that has no coloring…and this first card is just that! The colorful paper does the coloring “for you.” I heat embossed the peacock in gold over those strips of paper for an easy card.

The second card needed a bit more glitter! Lol. So I cut those strips from glitter cardstock for this one.

These cards were fun to put together and also just a little different. I hope it inspired you to try this technique on your cards!

Polka Dots Forever!

Hi there! Today I have a fun polka dot background created using the smallest stamp hidden amongst some gorgeous floral stamps! This stamp comes from the August 2019 Hedgehog Hollow Kit and I just knew it would make a great background.

I am using some of my favorite inks today to create this rainbow of polka dots (who doesn’t love a rainbow of polka dots)?! And this card is made even better with a “Hey, Gorgeous” sentiment.

I created a short video to show you how I created a background THREE different ways that are all equally as fun! Watch it below or on YouTube:

This background is easy to make and really quick, too. Just change the direction of your stamp each time to get some variation.

If you look closely at the stamp set in the photo above, you can just pick out the polka dot stamps I am talking about. I put a couple of them on one side of my acrylic block, and another one on the other side; then I alternated between the two sides when I stamped it out.

I think this black polka dot card is my favorite one! I also think it would make a great background for a dog card (why do I think that)?!

The last polka dotted card is made with the beautiful embossing powders that came in last month’s kit. I alternated between 3 of them to create an ombre look for the background.

Funny story…I colored these flowers in a rainbow order because I thought it would be fun to use them for the rainbow background (first card). But sometimes my cards take on a mind of their own! So these florals ended up on the heat embossed background. I added some chunky glitter to the centers of these flowers to mimic some shine from the embossing powders. So pretty.

Hey, Gorgeous!

As a part of that hop, I’m giving away two of my favorite word dies from PinkFresh Studio. I’ve been making a few more cards with them because I just can’t stop! Lol

These first two are just simply inked backgrounds that have been embossed, then I added the sentiments in gold glitter paper! I put a white backing on those sentiments so they would stand out.

It is so simple to create a striking card with just a few products! I used fun foam behind this sentiment to make it really pop off the card.

For these next cards, I did not use the backing for the sentiments, just the words alone. It’s great you can get such a variety of looks.

Those large flowers look so beautiful with this sentiment, I think! I colored the flowers up with Copics, then added a sentiment to match. For the blue flower below, I didn’t have paper that matched exactly, so I just used the same copic marker to color on some white paper. Then I die cut the sentiment from that!
