Flourish Tree Three Ways

Hello! Today I have three very different cards using the exact same die, the Flourished Tree Inset die from Our Daily Bread Designs.

The first one is very simple, just showing off that beautiful die:

After I finished, I thought it needed a little more pizzazz, so I added some green sequins.

There! That’s better. Just a few simple touches and you have a beautiful card. I used the Pierced Rectangle Dies to create a frame for the middle piece. The fun foam creates even more dimension behind that middle panel.

Then, I thought it would be fun to create a STENCIL from this die cut. So I cut two trees out of white heavy cardstock, and used one for the green tree stencil and one for the red tree stencil. Here’s my card: sunshine-flourish-tree-stencil-card

It creates a beautiful stencil and I just alternated the colors and the direction of the tree! I added a white heat embossed sentiment from this set on black cardstock and a few clear gem stones to dress it up a bit.

After I was finished with this card, I saw those cardstock stencils and decided to create a card out of them, too! Nothing goes to waste around here! I simply cut around each of those tree stencils (they were already red and green from creating the last card) and added them to a Snowy Sky backdrop.

I added some vellum before adhering the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Holiday Words dies. I hope you were inspired by all the ways you can use this Flourish Tree Inset die!

SYS2 Day 11: Play day!

Well, I couldn’t wait to get back into the craft room to try out another card once I saw Debby Hughes’ sample!! Wowza. I just love her style. She made a card with sunshine in a soft yellow and soft pink (using Hero Arts colors, I believe). Well, I don’t have much in the way of Hero Arts ink, but I do have some distress inks that I used very SPARINGLY to create a soft look like  hers. I love coloring these little Mama Elephant critters! This card was a welcome distraction to my not-so-fun day today (ever have those? Just me?)

I just realized that I used these exact critters on my other card from last week…I guess that poor monkey in the set needs to be stamped up next time!

I love that Hello Friend stamp from Technique Tuesday, and I embossed it with a clear embossing powder, then inked it up with some distress inks in Worn Lipstick and Festive Berries (to match the sun rays). See how soft I got those sun rays? I’m delighted with the feeling of this card.

You might notice that the critters are heat embossed in black. Then I used distress markers to color them in. I really like to emboss before watercoloring, it’s so helpful in keeping the color where it should be!

The “Life is Amazing” is another Technique Tuesday stamp set that I picked up for a song at a sale a while back. I need to remind myself that life really is amazing (today was a good day to use this stamp). 😉

The sequins are Pretty Pink Posh in “Lemon Meringue” and “Pink Blush”…aren’t those lovely names?

Be Strong and Hope

I made a special card this week for a friend who learned her mom has Stage 4 cancer and only weeks to live. It is crazy how your life can change in so short a time. And my heart is just breaking for her.

anything-goes

Where would I be?

Hello again! I have another fun card to share today using a new die from Lawn Fawn, their speech bubble die. This is such a neat die to use because the speech bubble is large enough to cover the top of a card front. I love it!

That little owl is one of my favorites from Paper Smooches. I embossed the tree using a super chunky copper/gold embossing powder. I love the way it looks for the tree trunk. I also embossed a cute heart to match.

Here you can see the embossing a bit better. (Excuse the glare from the light). I used this card for Father’s Day this year. Perfect, right?

Huge Thanks!

This is my second card I created for the Paper Smooches Picture Perfect Challenge. I discarded this background for the first card I created, but I couldn’t let it go to waste! So that’s how this adorable whale made it’s way onto this card.

This little whale (from the Surf and Turf set) is embossed in silver and then watercolored with distress markers! (Oh yes, for those of you following me you know I wanted distress markers for my birthday…and my wish came true!! Yeah!)

I think this one is closer to the picture perfect photo…what do you think:

I also used my new Pretty Pink Posh borders die for the “waves” and some fun silver glitter tape for the edge. I just love that glitter tape right now! The bubbles have a bit of glossy accents to make them shine.

Here you can see the silver embossing a bit better. Love it! I certainly had fun with this challenge, Paper Smooches!
