World Bee Day card

Hey there! Did you know today is World Bee Day? Well, I couldn’t resist making a card with some cute bees from Paper Smooches.

I used a hexagon embossing folder on the background, inked it up with Distress Oxides and added lots of cuteness from Paper Smooches:

Hello!

The Layered Hello die is always a favorite of mine. The bees are from the Lots of Love set, and the flowers are from the Friendly Flowers set. I have a special place in my heart for Paper Smooches, because this is the company that got me back into stamping many years ago.

I just love that you can combine sets to make such a happy card like this one. Here’s a close up for you:

I had such a wonderful time creating this card. I hope you enjoyed this project. I also have a healthy respect for honeybees…they are such hard workers. And, did you know that aerodynamically they really shouldn’t be able to fly at all? But the bees don’t know that, so they go ahead and fly anyway.

See, they are inspirational as well!

You are Bee-utiful!

I’m also entering this into the Paper Smooches May Challenge: Flowers.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you with another card share very soon.

Day 6 Rainbow Copic Coloring

I was completely inspired by Kathy Racoosin on this card! She took a bundle of 3 flowers and drew a rainbow on them with a pencil, then she colored in each line with a rainbow color (across all the flowers)! Brilliant!

Here is my attempt at this technique:

Guess who needs green copic markers!?!? Yep, this girl. I still like how it turned out even though I used “Putty” instead of a green color. So much fun.

Thank you, Kathy!

If you haven’t seen the Rainbow Maker Online Card Class, I highly recommend it! Had such a great time and I’m STILL making rainbow cards. 🙂

Supplies used:
Various Copic Markers
Paper Smooches stamp set: Friendly Flowers

Love You Penguin

This little penguin is so cute. I have always loved the critters from Paper Smooches!

I stamped the penguin and the sentiment in black pigment ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. It adds a fun glossy look. Then I painted some watercolor paper with a color I mixed with Gansai Tambi Watercolors. (This color reminded me of the inspiration photo for the current Paper Smooches challenge). I cut some hearts out of that blue-green watercolored paper. Then added some watercolor dots of the same color to the card.

Doesn’t he look so happy and cozy? He’s ready with a hug!

hey-friend

Hey, Friend

This little kitty and bird together are the most unlikely friends…but it works. The kitty has to hang on to the giant balloon in order to say hello to his flying friend.

I used multiple sets for this. By Paper Smooches: Chubby Chums, My Peeps, and Happy Camper (for the friend sentiment).

Holiday OCC — Day 6 Coloring

Today was a surprise day for the Holiday 2014 Online Card Class! I was so happy to see it, since I really thought the class was over!

HCW14_participant

I was inspired by Debby Hughes, who showed us some coloring with colored pencils on kraft paper. She is amazing! She heat embossed her image (a poinsettia) in white, then colored.

WELL, I wanted to turn this black bear into a POLAR bear this season, and this was my perfect opportunity. Heat embossing in WHITE was a brilliant idea (thank you, Debby) and it really worked well for this Polar bear. My dad loves bears and that includes Polar bears! This will have to be a card for him, I think!

One trick I really loved, was to color in 2 shades of red (on the Santa hat) and then add a bit of brown to really add some shading. This is a great trick and really worked well for me!

So how do you like my polar bear?!
