Adding Flock to cards

Hello! Today I’m up at the Maker Forte blog to share some Flocked Halloween cards.

Have you used flock on your cards before? Join me in class tomorrow night October 21, 2022 at 7:30 pm. Eastern time at the Hedgehog Hollow YouTube channel to learn how to use it!

I love the texture and velvety feel that flock adds to cards! Here the polka dots, the hats and bats, and the entire background of these cards are flocked! And that “HI” sentiment is also flock that I colored with some ink blending.

To read more information on these cards, visit the Maker Forte blog HERE.

I’m often asked what supplies I use to make my cards and projects, so I’ve put together a list using affiliate links when possible. If you make a purchase with these links I may receive a small commission. These help me to keep up with blog costs and continue bringing you fun projects. Thank you so much for your support!

Have a bootiful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Bats & Spiders!

Hello! Today I’m so excited to share a new video with some interesting backgrounds for Bats & Spiders. I’m using some new stamps & dies from Heffy Doodle…and this one called Let’s Hang Out is a favorite.

Watch the video below or on YouTube:

Aren’t these bats and spiders the cutest? I love them so much…better than real ones! lol.

I started out with a couple backgrounds that are so fun for these critters, and then I share how to put these cards together in the video.

What’s Brewing?

Hello! Today I have a small witch’s cauldron card to share using the September Hedgehog Hollow kit. I have to say these images in the stamp set are so fun to create with! Today I chose a ghost and a witches hat (combined they create the cutest Witch Ghost!), a cauldron, and a broom.

I chose a couple of the papers from the kit: a grey spiderweb paper and a black and white bat paper. I changed the bat paper to GREEN with a little Limewired Color Hive ink…this is a neon green and so perfect for this Halloween card!

Then I cut down the spiderweb paper to be a little smaller and inked on the “BOO” from one of the stencils in the kit. I set that aside to dry while I colored the images.

I used Copic markers to color these images and tried to match that Limewired ink color for the hat. The cauldron got a line of Limewired gems that matched perfectly!

Before I added these images with foam tape, I inked the edge of the spiderweb paper with Vegas Strip ink to give more of a contrast.

Then I put it all together on a card base! So. Much. FUN!

Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll be back with more cards to share soon!

Introducing “Mr. Spooky”

Hello! Today I have some easy Halloween backgrounds to share with you, along with a story about Mr. Spooky. See, I saw this skeleton die cut and it reminded me of this story I had to tell you…so I made a couple cards and a video.

Isn’t he cute?! I couldn’t wait to create a card with him holding this giant lantern! Lol.

Watch the video (and hear about Mr. Spooky) below or in HD on YouTube:

I used my FAVORITE brick embossing folder for this first card on black paper, and highlighted parts of it with gesso. This made parts of the brick background really reflect some light.

I also added some cream cardstock behind that lantern to make it pop off the bricks.

For the second card, I heat embossed that damask stamp onto a Stormy Metallic cardstock. I used a new rainbow glitter embossing powder that looks amazing on this cardstock.

The sentiments are from the All Seasons Sentiments paper pack. These sentiments are foilable, but I wanted to keep them black for these Halloween cards.

I share the story of my Nephew and his skeleton he calls “Mr. Spooky” on the video! I love that kid.
