Stretch your stamps 2 — bonus day

What can I say: I’ve been in love with this Mama Elephant stamp set since I first saw it, and this online card class inspired me to just GET IT! So, finally, my first card ever with “Up and Away”

I had a little extra fun on that background…inspired by Kristina Werner. I love this watercolor/distress ink technique (see my first card using this technique with a little monster here)!

You probably can’t tell, but there are some glittery embossed raindrops in the background as well as some glossy accent drops! I love this card. And those little critters are awesome. I used distress markers to watercolor in those cuties. I’m already thinking of my next card idea with this set!

Wish You were Here (at the Bakery)

Have you ever just craved a good bakery item? Today I was hungry for something delicious right out of the bakery and I think that’s  what inspired this card. Well, that and the Designer Drafts challenge at Paper Smooches. Here is the draft:

This draft lends itself so perfectly to fill with some adorable Paper Smooches birds! Oh, and a little crab too.

That little (hand written) bakery window was made with the sign from Hang Ups.

I used some mowed lawn distress ink to match the papers. And distress ink markers to color those critters.
Hope you enjoy this little group who are all interested in getting at that freshly baked pie.

I love that pelican!

A study in Alligators and Distress Marker Practice

These Distress Markers are amazing and I’ve been learning some new techniques using water with them. I started out with a butterfly and three different colors:

Then I graduated up to an Alligator from Paper Smooches! I’ve been excited to ink this guy up. And what started as a Study in Alligators practice sheet, turned into a card for the current Paper Smooches Challenge:

I tried out lots of colors on these guys. I’ll list them below if you are interested. It was super fun to apply a bit of marker in each color, then blend them out using just a bit of water and a brush. Sweet! I know I’m gonna have so much fun with these.

I ended up adding a strip of color on the inside of the card below the curved edge (to match the paper I used to matte the alligator study).
