Birds and Birdhouse Pop-Up Cards

Hello! Today I have the brightest Spring Birds and Pop-Up Birdhouse Cards to share. I really fell in love with these birds and I couldn’t stop making colorful birds (patterned after REAL birds)!

I made so many birds and card samples, that I separate them into TWO videos! Watch them below or in HD on YouTube:

Just how cute are these birds?! I really loved to make them and I share a tip for choosing colors and creating your OWN in my video.

I love the little chubby birds and the smaller birds! And there’s a die for Blue Jays, too! Of course I couldn’t stop at just Blue Jays, I made two variations on that bird including a woodpecker.

In the second video I share how to make these pop-up birdhouses! The one on the left is completely foldable and fits in an envelope to mail if you want. The yellow one is more of a decor piece….and I’m using it for a place setting for Easter!

EVEN MORE CARDS!
I also share an A2 shaped card and another A2 card idea using this same die! I love it when you can stretch your dies like this.

I’m often asked what supplies I use to make my cards and projects, so I’ve put together a list using affiliate links when possible. If you make a purchase with these links I may receive a small commission. These help me to keep up with blog costs and continue bringing you fun projects. Thank you so much for your support!

I hope you enjoyed all these projects today! Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to the Nest Card for nephew

Hello there! I am so happy to announce that I have a new nephew born just last week! So I had this idea to make a baby card using the sweet April kit from the Hedgehog Hollow.

Welcome to the nest!

I have to admit, it took me a while to make this card work for me, but once I had all the elements figured out, it came together pretty quickly!

I used some dies I had in my stash to add to this set, like the cloud background die and the welcome sentiment. And I used multiple layers to give this card some fun dimension!

Look at those sweet little birds getting the nest all ready for baby! I die cut the branch in brown cardstock and green cardstock. Then I simply clipped of those leaves and glued them onto the brown branch. For more interest, I used a copic marker to add shading to those leaves.

The awnings and the birds all got some white gel pen polka dots! (I couldn’t resist…Lol). I used white Nuvo drops on the center of the flower and the door knobs.

This kit is already sold out (it went fast!), but if you are interested in these kits for the future, check out the store here.

I hope you enjoyed this card for my brand new nephew! I made this as a baby boy card, but just imagine a pink version!! (oh my heart) 😉

Watercolor Resist Technique

Hello! Today I have a favorite technique to share called watercolor resist. I am using some images and dies from the April 2019 Hedgehog Hollow Kit.

It’s a really easy technique, but can be quite an eye catcher!

First, I stamped the birdhouse onto some watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I embossed it with some clear embossing powder.

Then, I used Gansai Tambi watercolors in rainbow colors on the first panel and overlapped them a little bit. The heat embossing resists that watercolor!

I die cut the panel down with a rectangle die cut. Then I cut the vines (also in the kit!) from the outer edges of the watercolor panel. No sense letting that beautiful color go to waste!

A Rainbow of Watercolor

To finish off this card, I used the polka dot paper from the Kit as a mat, and added a black frame. I popped up some birdies with 3M Foam tape and used some pearls for the final touch.

Green, blue, purple

I made another card using a cool color palate. The green polka dot paper was also included in the kit!

I hope you enjoyed this project! Visit the Hedgehog Hollow for more information about these card kits! Thanks for stopping by.
