It’s Looking Grim

Hello! It’s Looking Grim for my next cards…Grim Reaper that is! This is a fun part of the new Whimsy Release and I have THREE cards to share.

Watch the video below or in HD on YouTube:

For these three cards, I used the SAME DIE CUT called “Nightmare Die” from Whimsy Stamps. I show how you can use the die for Slimline, Mini Slimline, AND A2 sized cards. It’s so fun to change it up a bit to fit the cards!

Card 1: Grim Reaper

The Magnificent Backgrounds are so easy when you have GORGEOUS paper packs like these from Whimsy. For this grim reaper card, I used the Slimline Nightmares paper pack, the Nightmare Die, and the Roaming Monsters Die. I added some detail to the black cardstock with the Clawed stencil and some Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink.

Card 2: Mini Slimline Spooky Jacks

For this card, I took the inside portion of that Nightmare die and repurposed it for this size! I added the gorgeous Harlequin stencil with the same Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink. The background paper is from the Haunted Graveyards 6×6 Paper Pack, which has quickly become a favorite paper pack of mine!

Those stacked jack-o-lanterns are so cute, aren’t they? That’s from the Boo Ghosts stamp set.

3. A2 Monsters

Just look at that paper on the background! It’s just beautiful, isn’t it?! I cannot recommend Whimsy’s paper packs enough. Every single one I have is just breathtaking and a joy to create with.

Again, this is the leftover inside piece of that Nightmare die. I cut it once, and was able to create THREE CARDS with just one die cut piece! So awesome.

Have a Beary Merry Christmas!

Hello! Today I have the sweetest Christmas Teddy Bear card to share. You know I love my bears! So this card really made me smile.

This is a part of the brand new Whimsy Stamps release this month. I was SO HAPPY to get to create this card. I stamped that bear and colored him up with Copic markers. Then I used a stacked circle die to cut out the image, and the next size up to cut out a red circle to frame that out.

I used the Jolly Holly stencil to stencil the background with greens and reds. Then I added the image and circle frame. I used the Christmas Branch Die set to add some holly leaves to the sentiment. Then I finished it all off with some red gems!

Creative Ways with Halloween Dies

Hello! Today I’ve got a new video in my Halloween Card Series sharing creative ways with Halloween Dies. This spooky tree is an absolute favorite of mine.

Watch the video below or in HD on YouTube:

I loved creating this card with that Tree die as a background design element. I hope you will watch the video for some tips on creating this, and heat embossing on that Trick or Treat to create a shiny element. I create a special “tool” for easy embossing on a large die like this one.

I was inspired by the black, purple, and white candy corns…I hear they are Blackberry Cobbler flavored, but I have never tried one. Have you?

Alice & the Giant Moon

Hello! Today I have a fun card to share with Alice & the Giant Moon. I will share how to create a moon with very little supplies, and how to color Alice with the moonlight behind her. This is not necessarily a Halloween card, but the techniques could be used for any Halloween images you have!

Watch the video below or in HD on YouTube:

This kind of coloring with the moon from the background is a really fun challenge. The moon will glow around the outside of the image, with a darker face. Notice the yellow glow on Alice below:

I used the new Rattan stencil from Miss Ink Stamps for the texture in the background. It really reminded me of a chair, so that is how I came to use the image of Alice sitting in a chair!

I love these extra little die cuts from the Oh Happy Day Frame die set…those dandelions and “weeds” look perfect for this sweet card. I love that Alice also brought the cupcakes! Cupcakes can fix about anything.

I hope you enjoyed this project today! I can’t wait to share more ALICE cards with you (soon)!

Mixed Media Harlequin Cards

Hello! Today I have another episode in my Halloween Card Series with these Mixed Media Harlequin cards. I love the look of this harlequin stencil and it has 3 different areas on this stencil for different looks!

Watch the video below or in HD on YouTube:

These harlequin cards are similar, but different. I started out with some light cardstock in green, purple and blue. Then I ink blended a darker shade around the perimeter of each panel. Then I cut a different pumpkin for each of them using patterned paper and white cardstock.

For the green card, I stacked up that pumpkin before adding it to that harlequin background. I used some black ink to ink on those diamonds and stretched it out with a stencil trick that I share in my video.

Then I added some additional elements: a moon, web, and spider along with the Happy Halloween die cut in green and black. I offset the green to create a black shadow on the sentiment.

For the purple card, I used some Texture Paste and a different area of that harlequin stencil. I added some Antique Linen Distress ink around that white pumpkin to add more of a round look…and I do think it looks like it’s glowing! The spider, web, and Chills Word dies finish off this one.

For the blue card, I added the distressed harlequin portion of the stencil with some Crackle paste! I love this look! Then I added a pumpkin that was cut out of the BOOkeh paper. A simple sentiment and spider finish it off.

This little witch and cat are from the Wicked Cute stamp set. Aren’t they cute. I think they look great with the Pumpkin and Mini Jacks die cut set. For the background I added some black Paper Glaze. Once that dried, I stamped on some stars and dots with silver ink.

One last card I have to share uses the Harlequin stencil in a different way: as a design for the sky, grass, and pathway.

I love that spooky house on this slimline card! I heat embossed the “Wicked Cute” sentiment and added some jack-o-lanterns along that pathway.
