Huge Thanks!

This is my second card I created for the Paper Smooches Picture Perfect Challenge. I discarded this background for the first card I created, but I couldn’t let it go to waste! So that’s how this adorable whale made it’s way onto this card.

This little whale (from the Surf and Turf set) is embossed in silver and then watercolored with distress markers! (Oh yes, for those of you following me you know I wanted distress markers for my birthday…and my wish came true!! Yeah!)

I think this one is closer to the picture perfect photo…what do you think:

Their photo on the left, my card on the right.
I also used my new Pretty Pink Posh borders die for the “waves” and some fun silver glitter tape for the edge. I just love that glitter tape right now! The bubbles have a bit of glossy accents to make them shine.

Here you can see the silver embossing a bit better. Love it! I certainly had fun with this challenge, Paper Smooches!

Zebra & Giraffe card

Hello there! I recently purchased “Zoo Crew” from Paper Smooches and I just love that little zebra. He was the first one I wanted to ink up from this set. But last minute I added the cute giraffe so he’d have a friend.

I created this for the Paper Smooches Picture Perfect challenge and originally I stenciled the background in multi-colors, but it just didn’t seem right for this card! So I saved the first colorful stenciled piece (you’ll see it soon!) and I started over using only black/white.

I think that’s much better for this zebra. I found that glitter tape at JoAnn’s when I was there wasting time waiting for an airplane to land so I could pick up my parents. They were 30 minutes behind schedule, so what better way to wait around then visit JoAnn’s?!  So that wild glitter tape came home with me and found it’s way onto this card. Ha!

Here’s the picture challenge:

See how their challenge picture is all colorful? Well, I changed it up, but still used the same elements and basic idea. What do you think? Don’t you LOVE that little zebra?

The “Wild for you” sentiment did not come easy! I used the “for you” from a sentiment in Falling for You set. And the “wi” from the (wish you were here) sentiment in the Fanciful Fall set. Then I added an “L” from the Santa Paws set and the “D” from the same set, but different sentiment. Whew! Sometimes you gotta take matters into your own hands, you know what I mean?

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Paper Smooches Zoo Crew, Santa Paws, Falling For You, Fanciful Fall
Stencil: Tim Holtz Burlap
Distress ink: Black soot
Pencils: Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils
Other: jute string from my stash, heart gem from my stash, safari glitter tape

When the Moon hits your eye like a big Pizza Pie…

I just couldn’t resist making this card! It’s another for the Paper Smooches Designer Drafts challenge and this just hit my funny bone. You know that song, right? “When the Moon Hits Your Eye Like a Big Pizza Pie, That’s Amore!”

And that’s how this card was dreamed up. Ha, ha!

5-14-pizza-pie

I don’t have a stamp that says “Amore” so “Love” will have to do!

I used FIVE different Paper Smooches stamp sets to make this card. (For the pizza “Think Fast,” for the love “Falling for You,” for the sky — star from “Hang ups,” swirls from “Friendly Flowers,” and open dots from “Swanky Snowdudes.” )
I love how it came together!

Here’s the inspiration designer draft:

Oh, and I popped up the crust on that pizza so it looks like it’s larger than life!

I’m craving pizza for dinner now. And I think we’ll have to eat it under the stars. I don’t hear any complaints from my teenage son…except for maybe my constant singing of this song.

My husband thinks of “Pizza in the Sky With Diamonds.” But that’s a different version altogether! It’s a good thing I’m not doing a video for this card because you would all hear these songs while I’m making the card!

Anyway, doesn’t tonight sound like a  good pizza night?

Enchanted Mushroom Villa card

So for Memorial Day I made a card. You’d think it would be patriotic or red, white, and blue…but instead it turned into this Enchanted Mushroom Villa. No relation to Memorial Day!!

That’s because I’m playing along with the Paper Smooches Designer Drafts Challenge. Here’s the challenge designer draft:

My first thoughts were to design a moon, or a gumball machine, or a pizza. (And maybe I still will!) But the first stamp that jumped right out at me was this adorable mushroom house from the Fanciful Fall Paper Smooches set. I turned the designer draft upside down and created an enchanted mushroom villa! Here’s my card:

Here’s a close up of some of that glitter on the bee and the ladybug (those are from the Spring Fling Paper Smooches set, and so are the four-leaf clovers)

I wish these pictures were a little better, because in real life this card makes me SMILE! I have it on my desk in my craft room right now and I just love it.
I used Inktense watercolor pencil for the coloring/painting. And a bit of Wink of Stella on that “hi” die (from My Favorite Things).

Hope you enjoy!
