Stretch Your Stamps 2 — Day 1

“School” started today for me with Online Card Classes. The new Stretch Your Stamps 2 started out with some great projects! I was so inspired and even got some homework done today.

This is my version of the watercolor emboss resist background made into two cards:

I love how they turned out! (my husband was even impressed…he liked the shiny 3-D effect on the “hello”)

I ended up rounding the bottom corners of the Red Riding Hood card:

Aren’t they so happy?

That Kristina Werner is so creative!

I’ve got another card I’ll share later…I started it, but haven’t quite finished yet.
Looking forward to day 2!

Stretch Your Stamps 2 — Day 1 Faux Watercolor Background

I was inspired by Shari Carroll’s Faux Watercolor Background stamping in the Online Card Class (Stretch Your Stamps 2), and I just had to try it out. Now, this is not perfect, but I do think it turned out kinda fun!

I ended up using the second stamping, just like Shari did. I just liked the soft watercolor look. I added some rock candy glitter to the sentiment. You can see it a little better here:

I added a few sparkling clear sequins to finish it off. I think I’ll keep practicing this technique!

Wish You were Here (at the Bakery)

Have you ever just craved a good bakery item? Today I was hungry for something delicious right out of the bakery and I think that’s  what inspired this card. Well, that and the Designer Drafts challenge at Paper Smooches. Here is the draft:

This draft lends itself so perfectly to fill with some adorable Paper Smooches birds! Oh, and a little crab too.

That little (hand written) bakery window was made with the sign from Hang Ups.

I used some mowed lawn distress ink to match the papers. And distress ink markers to color those critters.
Hope you enjoy this little group who are all interested in getting at that freshly baked pie.

I love that pelican!

Zoo and Pirates!

My dear nephews (my brother’s boys) both have birthdays in July! So I had some fun with making their cards this year.

Lincoln turned 3, and I just knew my Paper Smooches zoo stamps (and a few others) would make a perfect card for him!

His (current) favorite color is green, so I added green chevron paper behind his die-cut name. This is such a happy card!

His brother, Carter, turned 5 and so I put together a fun pirate card for him!

I just love those fish jumping over the pirate ship into the glittery water! So fun!

Super Lann

I made this card for my husband for his birthday a while back, but it seems like it could be a bit of a patriotic card doesn’t it? So I decided to post it today.

super-lann-2

I just love this Super set from Paper Smooches. When I saw it I knew I had to get it to make a card for my husband! He loves all things superman and we even call him “Super-Lann.” He’s a leap year baby, so a couple birthdays ago he turned 12 (again) and we had a super hero birthday party for him. We even had a super hero obstacle course…I wish I had pictures to post! But for now, this card will have to do.

super-lann-1

I used gold foil for the body…awesome! Then I paper pieced back on the boots, head and hands and colored them with colored pencil. Hard to tell in this picture, that is a glitter heart above the super hero guy.

Love how this card turned out and it made my hubby laugh! 🙂

Joining up with the Paper Smooches Challenge.
