Holiday OCC: Day 1

I just love the online card classes by Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. This is the first Holiday class I’ve taken from them, but I’m having a blast! On day one, we learned a bit about making cards that are easy to replicate. I was completely mesmerized by Debby Hughes’ take on “dip dyed” tags, that I had to try it out.

Here’s the card I made:

She always does such cute small cards (this is 3 1/2 x 5″). I used some gold ink to splatter on the background. I used the Simon Says Stamp “Eliza” snowflake– one of my absolute favorites!! See all that detail? Then I “dip-dyed” that snowflake in gold sparkle embossing powder. Awesome.

Supplies Used:
Dies: Simon Says Stamp “Eliza” snowflake; Savvy Stamps “Joy”
Other: American Crafts twine; Mr. Huey’s gold spray; Neenah Solar White 80# paper;

Halloween Time

I had such a fun time making a few Halloween cards this year for my out-of-town nephews. I even made one for my grandma! Here they are:

Happy Birthday, Garrett!

Today is my nephew’s birthday! I made a very special card for him using one of my favorite sets from My Favorite Things.

He loves pirates and he loves the color green (“light core green” he says); so I think he will LOVE this card! At least, I hope so!

Here’s the treasure on the inside:

Flowers Everywhere

If you asked me a favorite place to be in all the places you could ever be….I would say in a field of flowers. I feel so peaceful with flowers all around. In fact, a favorite place to visit is the Flower Fields in California (in April or May). It it just amazing!! (Read my post about it here).

So it seemed perfectly natural to build a card around that idea. Have you ever thought of throwing flowers as a sort of celebration? Well, it sounds like fun, and that’s just what these little cuties are doing:

See all the flowers in the background? The sky is just filled with flowers! I was going for an Ombre look with my watercolored sky, but it didn’t turn out exactly as I imagined. That’s the beauty of watercoloring….it’s completely unpredictable!

I white embossed those flowers first onto watercolor paper, then applied the color. I also watercolored those gals (from Mama Elephant “In My Heart”) and I think they turned out so cute!

For the “happy,” I first watercolored some paper with greens, yellow and blues, then cut out the word. As you can see, I didn’t get much of the blues in there, but I like the variation of greens and yellows here…it kinda goes with the grassy hill. 🙂

I think this little scene would also go well with the sentiment from “Up and Away” that says: Spread Happiness Wherever you go. I just might add that to the inside of the card.

Hey, Sexy Lady

Ok, so who wouldn’t love to get this as a birthday card? This Mama Elephant sentiment just cracks me up and I KNEW I had to use it along with one of their adorable panda bears.

That is one cute dancing panda! I just can’t even stop grinning.

I’m just loving their products right now…I put together this little card using their die cut Femme Frames. A little watercolored background (I love how those splotches form!) and watercolored umbrella make it look so soft and sweet.

Wouldn’t you get a giant smile on your face if you got this card in the mail? 😉
