Easy Ombre Valentines

Hello! Can you believe Valentines Day is less than a week away? Today I have some Valentines cards to share with some of my favorite techniques.

I have a video of the easiest Ombre tricks to share, watch it below or on YouTube:

Which card is your favorite?

For the Ombre card I used the pink hybrid inks in four colors. These are already in Ombre order to make things extra easy. I love that! Each ink gets progressively darker, and when you use a large stamp (like the XOXO stamp) with a MISTI stamping tool, you can produce the easiest Ombre Valentine card ever!!

I’m often asked what supplies I use to make my cards and projects, so I’ve put together a list using affiliate links when possible. If you make a purchase with these links I may receive a small commission. These help me to keep up with blog costs and continue bringing you fun projects. Thank you so much for your support!

Hope you enjoyed these Valentines! See you real soon with more card inspiration.

I also create a green & blue version. I love making non-traditional Valentine cards…because any time is a good time to send a card to your loved ones!

Bird in a Nest

Hello again! Today I’m using the new December 2019 Hedgehog Hollow Kit to create a cute bird in a nest card. I’m sharing this on the Hedgehog Hollow blog today, too!

This card came together pretty quickly. I started with a card panel of Neenah Solar White 80# paper and stamped the little bird with Copic friendly ink. Then I stamped the “nest” I created with the swirl stamp in two shades of brown ink.

I colored up the bird with copic markers and added some dots with copics and colored pencils. Then I white heat embossed the sentiment.

At this point, it was difficult to read the sentiment because it was white embossing on white paper. So I used make up brushes to brush on some Distress Ink.

I only inked it up around the “nest” and left it softer color toward the top. Then I die cut the cross-stitched rectangle, and cut down the outer rectangle as well so I could add some sparkly paper peeking from the background!

For the final touch, I added some Nuvo Jewel drops under the sentiment. Isn’t this birdie so cute?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this project. See you soon with another card!

Dogs with Newspaper cards

Hello! Today I have a fun post to share with a VIDEO! I’m showing you how you can use an everyday item (newspaper) on your cards today.

I thought today would be the perfect time to share this technique because I have the cutest Bernese Mountain Dogs stamps to share from Jessica Lynn Originals.

Take a look at these cuties:

I colored them up with Copics. The one on the left uses the Warm Greys (W3, W5, W7, W9) and the one on the right uses Neutral Greys (N3, N5, N7, N9). See the difference in colors?

These are super fun to color up! I thought they’d be fun to pair with newspaper! So two of my cards today feature newspaper as a design element.

In this first one I used some Gesso to give it more of a subtle whitewashed look for my card.

And in this second card, I used some Distress Ink in Hickory Smoke to ink up the paper-wrapped flowers. This sweetheart brought in some flowers for your birthday! He looks pretty pleased with himself.

Here’s a close up to show a bit more of that detail in the fur. By adding small lines and dots, you give the fur more texture and I think it makes him look so dapper! (Do people even use that word anymore? Lol.)

Watch my video below or on YouTube to see the tricks I share in using such a thin paper on your cards:

For my last card, I wanted to use that sitting Bernese Mountain Dog to share a message:

How cute is he? He does Love You, you know. Aren’t dogs just the best for showing love?!

I hope you enjoyed these projects today. For more information about this set and her other cute stamps that are available, visit Jessica Lynn Originals here.
