Holiday OCC — Day 3 Watercolor

I’m back with another amazing Online Card Class inspired creation! Today was all about watercoloring holiday cards. I love the watercolor look. I’ve been itching to ink up this Penny Black holiday stamp that I have, and so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity!

Isn’t she so cute! One single caroler. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to do that, but Mimi is! I used Distress Markers to watercolor the caroler and the background. Then I added some stardust stickles to the snow and the light. I made the snow with Enamel Accents. I love the look! She looks so festive with that Christmas paper background! Mimi, you are an inspiration!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Penny Black Mimi; Verve “Christmas Wishes”
Watercolor: Distress Markers
Other: Stardust Stickles; Enamel Accents

Holiday OCC — Day 2, “Peace on Earth”

These online card classes are so inspiring! On day 2 we learned about Interactive cards. I loved all the samples, but the one by Kelly Marie Alvarez (of Lawn Fawn) was so cute! She made a card with 2 birds holding a star, and when you pulled the tag on the card, they put the star on the top of the Christmas tree. Sorry, that may be difficult to understand! Since this is my very FIRST interactive pull-tab card, I decided to go a bit simpler.

I made a background using Distress Inks, then I put sparkle embossing powder over the entire background and heat set it. I love the texture it adds! Then I added the sentiment, and heat set it in black. When you add embossing powder OVER another layer of embossing powder, it kind of melts into the first layer! Whoa.

In hindsight, I think I might have embossed that sentiment first and then added the distress ink. I will have to try it that way next time!

The tab on the side pulls out and the dove “flies” the branch over the top of the card. So cool. This card took me a LONG time to make, probably because I’ve never constructed anything like this before. But I think it was so worth it!

It’s not perfect, but it’s so interesting!

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Mama Elephant “Peace on Earth” and “Arctic Penguins”
Dies: My Favorite Things “gift card” die
Other: Sparkle embossing powder; Distress Inks

Holiday OCC: Day 1

I just love the online card classes by Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. This is the first Holiday class I’ve taken from them, but I’m having a blast! On day one, we learned a bit about making cards that are easy to replicate. I was completely mesmerized by Debby Hughes’ take on “dip dyed” tags, that I had to try it out.

Here’s the card I made:

She always does such cute small cards (this is 3 1/2 x 5″). I used some gold ink to splatter on the background. I used the Simon Says Stamp “Eliza” snowflake– one of my absolute favorites!! See all that detail? Then I “dip-dyed” that snowflake in gold sparkle embossing powder. Awesome.

Supplies Used:
Dies: Simon Says Stamp “Eliza” snowflake; Savvy Stamps “Joy”
Other: American Crafts twine; Mr. Huey’s gold spray; Neenah Solar White 80# paper;
