SS2 Day 8 — Watercoloring with geometric stamps

Since I had a die cut of the word “Celebrate” already cut out, I thought I’d better use it for something! So I colored it pink and used the watercolor idea from Taheerah Atchia in Stretch Your Stamps 2 online card classes.

It turned out a little “messier” and “splotchy” than I liked, so I took some perfect pearls and mixed it with some Picked Raspberry distress ink and painted right over those lines that made up the triangle shapes. Better.

You’ll still see some of the seeping of color from the watercolor stamping, but that’s just the nature of the technique. I decided that a friendly panda throwing some “confetti” would add to the cheerfulness of this card! And I sent a picture to my mom…she said this one made her smile. So, that’s all that matters, right?

On a side note, did you know that Pretty Pink Posh sequins in Pink Peonies match great with Picked Raspberry distress ink? Well, they do and I’m so pleased. Love that color!

SS2 — Day 8 Create Borders with graphic stamps

I love the bold borders that Kelly Rasmussen created in Stretch Your Stamps 2! I don’t have many graphic or geometric stamps, but I found one that is like a starburst or fireworks and I thought it would work well for this idea.

I used 2 different inks to ink up the starbursts and used a glitter paper for behind the die cut from Paper Smooches. (Sorry for the darkness…the glitter paper really does match the darker ink on the starburst)!

And then, of course, I couldn’t leave well enough alone so I added some Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. Love those sparkling clear ones!!

Stretch your stamps 2 — bonus day

What can I say: I’ve been in love with this Mama Elephant stamp set since I first saw it, and this online card class inspired me to just GET IT! So, finally, my first card ever with “Up and Away”

I had a little extra fun on that background…inspired by Kristina Werner. I love this watercolor/distress ink technique (see my first card using this technique with a little monster here)!

You probably can’t tell, but there are some glittery embossed raindrops in the background as well as some glossy accent drops! I love this card. And those little critters are awesome. I used distress markers to watercolor in those cuties. I’m already thinking of my next card idea with this set!

Thank You cards galore!

I’m always needing thank you cards and I thought I’d try a new embossing technique. When my husband saw it, he said “Will you make some for me?!” But all he wanted was the embossing…no hearts, no cute little animals. BORING!

So I make a bunch for myself with some of my favorite Paper Smooches little guys:

I think my favorite is the pelican.

I ended up using this one right away and mailed it in a bright yellow envelope…it looked so happy!

But I made even more! I just couldn’t stop once I got started. I just love these cards and this weekend I mailed almost all of them out.

day-6-distress-coloring

Stretch Your Stamps 2 — Day 6

I was completely mesmerized by Donna Mikasa’s water painting technique and that’s the first one I tried my hand at.

I had some fun with this one, although I think I could use a little more practice! I used distress inks to bring in the color (picked raspberry, orange marmalade, mustard seed) and then “water painted” to remove the color from the petals. So cool!

Enjoy!
