Homemade Glitter Paper (Sparkle & Shine: Day 1)

I just cannot miss an Online Card Class, and this Sparkle & Shine class was no exception! I love adding a little sparkle to my cards and I was excited to learn some additional ways to make my projects shine!

On Day 1, we learned quite a bit about glitter. Well, I don’t like glitter (but I DO like glitter paper!) because it gets all over the place. And I still don’t have Swiffer cloths in my craft room. BUT, I jumped right in and made my own glitter paper using clear Distress Glitter, then colored it with alcohol markers.

Here’s my card:

It was so fun, but glitter got EVERYWHERE! And I got some glitter on my markers (I hope it doesn’t hurt them). This Waffle Flower die “Magical Flower Border” was the perfect choice for my project. I added a sentiment to describe the way I felt about this colored glitter paper. You can’t tell in this picture, but that sentiment is actually bronze glitter…I thought it looked great with the colored glitter paper.

I’m loving this class so far! Thanks for all the fun!

There’s tons more to learn and try from just day 1, and you can bet I’ll go back and try a few more techniques. 🙂

You are Loved

I’m so excited to finally get to play with my new Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I thought I’d join along with the Concord & 9th Floral Challenge, and here is my take on the challenge:

you-are-loved

I love how these watercolor makers work on the Bristol Smooth paper using a water brush. I also used some new to me embossing powder called “Watering Can” from Ranger for the sentiment. Turns out, my striped paper matched the background color beautifully!

Hope you enjoyed my card. See you next time!

You are Totally Fabulous

The Ellen Hutson January Pinsights challenge (here) inspired me to make this card.

I loved the black and gold and turquoise colors from the inspiration board and it translated into this card:

totally-fabulous

I first die cut the sentiment out of gold glitter paper. Then I adhered that to a black strip of paper. I stamped the flowers and leaves in black pigment ink, and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I used Peacock Feathers distress ink on the top portion of the card.

I hope you like it!

Love You Penguin

This little penguin is so cute. I have always loved the critters from Paper Smooches!

I stamped the penguin and the sentiment in black pigment ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. It adds a fun glossy look. Then I painted some watercolor paper with a color I mixed with Gansai Tambi Watercolors. (This color reminded me of the inspiration photo for the current Paper Smooches challenge). I cut some hearts out of that blue-green watercolored paper. Then added some watercolor dots of the same color to the card.

Doesn’t he look so happy and cozy? He’s ready with a hug!

Hugs & Kisses

I cannot stop making Valentine’s cards! I have one to share today featuring Mama Elephant Stamps.

hugs-and-kisses-1-17

This card started out with stamping all the XOXOs with the Misti, so I could get them all lined up. Then I watercolored that cute cat, and white heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock.

And that’s where it stopped! I literally had this card sitting on my desk for days because I couldn’t figure out how to finish it.

Then, today I found some soft pink glitter paper…and it all came together! I used the glitter paper for the frame and the hearts. I love it. It’s a perfect Valentine card with red and pink and glitter and hugs.

Hope you like it!
